Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural (SMSC)

Intent

SMSC forms the Soul of our School by encouraging independent thinking and coming together as a responsible community whilst celebrating the differences that make us all unique. We reflect on the values that drive our society and shape our character preparing us for full inclusion in our increasingly diverse British culture. Empowering children to make informed decisions that they can be assured will make a positive impact in our shared future. We achieve this together as a school community through shared values, assemblies and involvement in local, national and global events, whilst celebrating our unique individuality.

Our recent Values Day gave every year group the chance to give something back to our local community:

  • Year R – Made scarecrows for the Tankerton Half Term Trail.

  • Year 1 – Held a Self-Portrait Exhibition at the Horsebridge.

  • Year 2 – Created artwork for local libraries.

  • Year 3 – Took part in a beach clean to help keep Whitstable plastic-free.

  • Year 4 – Crafted lanterns for WhitSparkle.

  • Year 5 – Learned about local road safety and supported the Ham Shades campaign.

  • Year 6 – Made cards and prepared songs for residents at Lyndhurst Care Home.

We are incredibly proud of our children for showing creativity, responsibility, empathy, and community spirit as they gave something back to the place they call home.
